About

The Almighty has done great things for me,and holy is his Name.

Hello! I made this blog to hopefully connect with other homebound, disabled, and/or ill Catholics and to hopefully make others feel less alone and to be a reminder that no matter what situation we may find ourselves in, we always have a purpose and can always grow in our faith and love for God.

My name is Rachel and I'm 25 years old. I've been mostly at home since I was 15 years old due to poor health. Since then I've developed several more chronic illnesses and problems, including digestive problems which have controlled my life since age 17. I deal with many different symptoms which makes spending a lot of time away from my house difficult and most of the time I only leave when I have an appointment.

I had surgery in August 2012 (ovarian cyst) also in May 2013 (gallbladder/gallstones). I am very thankful for getting through them and the healing I've received.

I am a convert to Catholicism, Easter Vigil 2011! I used to be an anti-Catholic Protestant Christian.  I never thought I would one day be Catholic! I went to a Lutheran school for 3 years as a kid. For a short time I went to an Assembly of God church, and a few times to other churches and a non-denominational summer bible camp. I once had a desire to be Amish/Mennonite. I've also had a time of being unsure/agnostic as I was on my journey to becoming Catholic. I fail, but desire to love God with my whole heart, soul, mind and strength.

My confirmation name is Therese [of Lisieux]. Along with her, Kateri Tekakwitha, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina and Teresa of the Andes, they are some of my favorite saints. I want to be like them and I can relate to Therese a lot. Their intercession has worked some miracles in my life.

Some things that I like to do include being creative, crocheting, writing, and reading.

I hope you will enjoy this blog, and find it encouraging. Feel free to send me a message to say hello, or post your thoughts as a comment.
